Full STEAM ahead for BCA & Young Enterprise partnership
Boscombe Creative Alliance (BCA) are delighted to be working with Young Enterprise to deliver two flagship company programmes to young people in Boscombe. Company directors within the BCA are committing their time on a weekly basis over the academic year to be Business Advisors; bringing a wealth of business knowledge and experience to the programme.
The Young Enterprise Company Programme, funded by Boscombe Regeneration Partnership is providing students from Avonbourne and St Peter’s 6th Forms with the opportunity to set up and run their own real company while they are still in education. Running throughout one academic year, students make all the decisions about their enterprise, from deciding on the name and product to creating a business plan, managing the student company finances and selling to the public. By taking part in the programme students develop skills, knowledge and experience which are proven to have a long-term impact on their lives and careers.
Darren Mooney, Director of Boscombe Creative Alliance (BCA) and Creative Director of The Global Group added: ‘We are really excited to be able to offer this opportunity to young people taking STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Maths) A-levels at local 6th Forms and to help develop their skills for university or work. We are really enjoying working with the talented students that we have involved and look forward to seeing how these companies develop and progress through the competition’.
The partnership with Young Enterprise to deliver the Company Programme over the next two academic years is only one of a range of projects that the BCA are delivering to inspire the emerging talent of the future and to raise the profile of Boscombe as a place for entrepreneurship, creativity and collaboration.
